“Riveting ... very highly recommended.” -- Midwest Book Review

“Nelson’s well-crafted tale is entertaining to the last page.” -- Matt Staggs, Realms of Fantasy magazine

In an alternate history, one country in today’s world practices the religion of ancient Egypt. They hate foreigners and reluctantly work with them. But everything is going terribly wrong.

A member of the pharaoh’s temple betrays him, a crime punishable by death.

A man is sentenced to death for his wife’s treason.

A woman is convinced she is the goddess Sekhmet, whose duty is to slaughter people to protect the nation’s citizens and its gods.

The fate of the entire nation rests on the shoulders of an innocent and trusting woman who delves into a web of political lies and manipulation, unaware that a serial killer has been dispatched to prevent her from discovering the truth.

Our Lady of the Absolute a mystery thriller edition by Resa Nelson Eric Wilder Literature Fiction eBooks

A white-walled city along the Nile, a self proclaimed Pharoah/god, evil priests, gods and goddesses... even a harem: the many elements of a typical excursion into the mores and beliefs of ancient Egypt. Or, so it would seem. When a temple scribe sees a spreadsheet and a form with 1040 on it, the reader begins to suspect that all is not what it seems. When the evil head priest sits down to his computer to work on “the bottom line” as it were, the attribute “ancient” appears to be misplaced. There are too many surprises in this tale for me to reveal any. I prefer to let the unsuspecting reader discover the truths behind the fiction. A total entertainment.

Our Lady of the Absolute a mystery thriller edition by Resa Nelson Eric Wilder Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Resa Nelson again gives a smash hit. A stand-alone departure from her first novel, "The Dragonslayer's Sword" we are brought into a world as Ancient Egypt in a modern-day society. There is nothing hoaky about her world or characters. Everything that is explained, everything that occurs has a very solid, well thought out purpose (even if it seems confusing at the time). The story feels more like a prime-time TV miniseries or a blockbuster screenplay than of a novel - the reader is thrust fully into this world and taken for an astonishing journey. Her attention to hard research, details, and characters are exquisite and palatable. Once you start to peel back the layers, not all is what it seems to be, nothing is absolute.

Her driving theme of this story is both compelling and hard-hitting. Just when you think you have it all figured out, Resa will throw in a wrench that really gets the heart and mind racing. As with "Dragonslayer", this book is a total page-turner, with each moment keeping the reader riveted. I had a hard time keeping this book down, and again I found myself nearly yelling at the book with the twists and turns that Resa is known for. As is usual with her work, this story is not for the weak-minded or closed-minded. Resa is a demanding, purpose-driven author who brings stories that are cerebral and contemplative - And I love every minute of it. (please note, this is not to say the book is a difficult read)

Another thing I really liked is that she strikes a balance for her characters, they are able to live their lives as they see fit. I feel this is a unique departure from other stories that appear to have a bias to one viewpoint or another, that you must make a choice to be on one side. Her departure is what I feel to be most profound and contemplative of her story and her theme - something that can be applied to real life.

I also highly recommend video interviews that Resa filmed herself, interviewing some of the main characters in the novel. It is an intriguing concept. They can be found on YouTube, search for "Resa Nelson", and "Who are the Black Landers?"
I was given a copy of this book free of cost if I would possibly consider leaving feedback. I always take the time to leave feedback because I think it helps us all pick the better choices when looking for a book.

What I won't do is give away the "meat" of a story.

This was my first introduction to this authors work. So, based on this book a couple things came to mind immediately...things that as an avid reader others may appreciate as I did. First? I found NO typo's… not even one! Nothing pulls a reader out of that sacred space we go to when deeply engrossed in a good book; a personal squick of mine, but shared by many. The writing style was well done; kept me turning pages and I believe I finished this book basically in three nights of reading. But...what I thought was quite a change from what it seems too many writers feel the need to do is filling in pages of heaving breasts, long golden locks, passionate...whatevers nope. None of that was needed/used as filler to make for a thicker book!!! This was a well written and well thought out storyline! Amazing.

Based on the ancient long held beliefs of the Egyptians, I was a wee bit thrown when modern ways overlay what I'd expected. But my curiousity along with the fast pace and need to figure out what was what kept me reading late into the night...and grabbing it back up to continue with my morning tea.

Well written and well thought out; wonder if there's going to be a sequel??
I was disappointed in this book. The characters were flat and I didn't care about them or their out come, and half way through I was so irritated that I didn't finish this book...which is unusual for me.
OUR LADY OF THE ABSOLUTE
By Resa Nelson

This is a most strange story and it flows along making sense for about half of the book, and then it takes a twist and the reader struggles trying to determine how to fit the two halves of the book together. It is a sci-fi type of story, a fantasy, where the first half of the book has you in ancient Egypt, with all of the gods, royalty, and idiosyncrasies of that civilization. Then the story takes a 180 degree turn, which throws the reader and it is awhile before the reader can understand what is taking place.
I don’t want to spoil this story by relating any events that occur, for it would take the enjoyment out of the tale by doing so. But many readers will enjoy this type of story telling, and it is well written.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review.
It's a excellent read that pulled me right into the story. It captured the essence of an abusive sect and those who live within it. As long as you don't look too closely or start thinking for yourself, everything will be ok. And it clearly wasn't. I don't want to give too much away, but after all the horror, there is hope and healing in the end.
When I first started this book I was not sure where it was going. I almost didn't finish it. I am so glad I did. This one of the most amazing books I have ever read. It is a must read.
Our Lady of the Absolute by Resa Nelson is a different type of book to read. It tries to combine ancient Egyptian and modern society in a "today" setting.

The book was well written but I found it hard to follow and identify with. I just could not get into the story. This book just didn't do it for me.

I give it four stars based on writing style, but I did not like the storyline.
